    a) 5x = 3x + 3

    5x - 3x = 3

    2x = 3

    x = 3/2


    b) 8 x = 12x + 4

    8x - 12x = 4

    - 4x = 4

    x = - 4/4

    x = - 1


    c ) 4 - 7y = 10y

    - 7y - 10y = - 4

    - 17y = - 4

    y = 4/17


    d) (x + 1 ) ( x - 8 ) = 0

    x + 1 = 0                     ou                  x - 8 = 0

    x = - 1                                                x = 8
